- Whisper and Parakeet models run on your own machine—through Core ML on macOS, and natively on Windows.
- History and usage patterns are stored locally.
- API keys for optional providers are kept in the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager.
- Cloud AI only receives text when you configure and enable it.

Chirp is a native SwiftUI application on macOS and a native WinUI 3 application on Windows—not a web wrapper on either. Model storage and memory needs depend on the model you choose.
